3 — Write a template response for Mailchimp
It can be really helpful for you to let senders know some of the problems with Mailchimp so they can find other email marketing service. Here’s what you might say:
Dear sender
You may not know this, but Mailchimp is imposing quite a risk for you and your customers. For example
- In February 2016, Mailchimp announced it was only giving customers 60 days to switch to a new pricing structure or it would disable their accounts.
- In November 2017, Mailchimp worsened newsletter delivery by abandoning double opt in.
- In January 2018, Mailchimp was found to be leaking email addresses.
- In March 2018, Mailchimp was still being exploited by hackers.
- In March 2019, Mailchimp was kicked off Shopify for failing to report subscription settings.
- In May 2019, Mailchimp again surprised customers with pricing changes without notice.
- In 2019 forward, Mailchimp increased censorship [example, example, example, example] — banning its customers without citing evidence and without notice, then changing their terms of service after the ban.
Do yourselves and your customers a favor — please consider another email marketing service. Until then, please remove me from your mailing list.
4 — Save your Mailchimp template response in Gmail
